Had a genuinely wonderful experience working with Potter Violins. Jim Kelly was extremely helpful, taking care to select instruments after we discussed my needs, goals, and preferences. He expertly demonstrated them to narrow down final candidates for trial, and was great with communication during the process, answering my questions quickly and completely, and always with the good humor and kindness of a friend. A lot of shops play games, but I felt like everything was exceptionally transparent and up front during the entire process. I couldn’t recommend Potter Violins and Jim more highly. I love the viola they helped me find; it could have been a years long process but was made quick and easy with their tremendous connections, inventory, and people.

Great selection of violins and cellos at a variety of price points. They let us take our time picking out a few instruments and borrowing them for a period of time. Appreciate the loaners while instruments are being worked on. Good selection off music at the store. Less than online, of course, but really great if you need something asap.

This place is amazing. I started to rent a student violin from them about a year ago. And I recently used the rental credit on a purchase. Below is what I found out about the different programs they offer: - Purchase - They have a broad range of selections for purchase, from instruments that're cost friendly to collectibles. - Rentals - The Standard rentals ($30/mo for an violin) comes in great quality for students. - Rental to Purchase - 12 months worth of your rental cost will go towards your purchase as credit. For example, 12 mo of Standard violin rental will give you a total credit of $360 towards your purchase of an instrument. But, the instrument needs to be priced at $720 for you to use your credit 100%. - Trade-in - They recently took out the $250 restock fee. So now, 70% of the price of your current instrument can be creditted towards your next purchase.

I had a really great experience with Potter Violins when looking to rent an instrument. The staff is friendly and communicative and their rental instruments are high quality. I couldn’t help but notice that they had an extensive selection of music too! 10/10

Rob Wood once again worked his magic on one of my instruments. My teaching violin was making some horrible sounds and Rob found the problem, fixed it, as well as tweaked a few other things. The violin sounds great and plays better than it ever has. I am delighted to be able to take my instruments to a repairman I can completely trust. I highly recommend Rob and Potters. Many thanks to Dalton Potter, his wonderful shop, and his commitment to excellence.

I took my son and his violin tutor to Potter Violins in July, and we were so pleased with their service. Our appointment started on time, and the young man that took care of us was extremely informative and kind. He even posed for a photo with my son. To top it all off, we received a thank you note in the mail and an itemized receipt for the violin we purchased, so we could insure it properly. This is hands down the best place to buy an instrument, and I will definitely be patronizing this business again.

I have had endless positive experiences working with Jim and the staff at Potters. I have purchased multiple fine instruments from this shop, have had hundreds of fantastic bow rehairs and always receive top notch customer service. Jim is extremely dedicated, patient and has a history of working with customers until just the right instrument is sought. Jerry's bow rehairs are the best and most consistent around. Rob is a gem when it comes to adjustments and instrument advice. He's also a fantastic violin maker. (Check out his fiddles!) I always leave more than satisfied. I consider this to be the best violin shop in the area hands down!
